Frequently Asked Questions
What is the SendAWakeUpCall service all about?
It is an anonymous, safe and convenient way to tell a friend, loved one, colleague or anyone else something you feel they need to know when you are uncomfortable doing so personally or in person.
Equally as important, SendAWakeUpCall provides the recipient of a Wake Up Call message the option to reply to the anonymous sending, without learning the identity or email address of the sender.
What does it cost?
For just US$0.50 you can compose any message to anyone, and SendAWakeUpCall.com will send this for you to their email address. Anonymously. Confidentially. Immediately.
There is no account set-up required or account fees.
And if they reply, we will forward their reply to you. For free.
Why is this not a free service?
We believe you get what you pay for in life. We are aware of a number of services that claim to offer anonymous email messaging, however many of these do not work reliably, the format of their messages look like spam, messages are not sent automatically, and you are often required to set up an account. Also, most free services do not provide an opportunity for recipients to respond or reply to the anonymous senders.
SendAWakeUpCall provides a reliable, confidential service in which your messages are sent in a professional looking template. Plus, all recipients of a Wake Up Call message have one free right of reply to the sender, giving them a chance to thank you for your thoughts or to share their own perspective and viewpoint with you.
Can I send any message?
Within reason, yes. And as long as your message is not abusive, threatening, hateful, racist, profane, obscene, or illegal. See response to next question for more details.
Before submitting a message to be sent you will need to agree to our Terms and Conditions of Use.
What types of messages are not allowed?
The SendAWakeUpCall terms and conditions prohibit the sending of any messages that can be considered:
Also, messages that contain software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer, telecommunications equipment, other hardware, or software are strictly prohibited.
Will recipients know who has sent them a Wake Up Call message?
No, the identity of all senders is kept confidential and is not included in any message. Your order information is never linked to your anonymous emails. We will keep your identity safe, so the only way for someone to know a Wake Up Call message is from you is if you tell them!
However, if illegal activities take place, or if information is requested or mandated by legal authorities, SendAWakeUpCall will definitely cooperate with relevant law enforcement agencies.
Under what circumstances might my identity or email details be revealed and to whom?
SendAWakeUpCall may disclose any information we have, including your email address details and payment details, when required to: a) comply with a court order, regulatory agency or other government authority, or b) when in the sole judgment of SendAWakeUpCall doing so is necessary to protect any persons, entities or property from possible and imminent harm.
How can I find out who sent me a Wake Up Call message?
You cannot. Our system is designed to protect the identity of all Wake Up Call message writers.
Will the recipients be able to respond to the Wake Up Call message I send them?
Yes, all recipients have one free right of reply. However, they will not know who they are sending their reply to.
If they reply, their message will be forwarded directly to your email address.
Why do I have to give you my email address?
Before we send any submitted message, we send a confirmation link to your email address to verify that you have indeed submitted the message. This also gives you time to pause and think about the contents of your message before you give the confirmation to send it. Also, this prevents abuse of the system so that no one can use another person’s email address to send a Wake Up Call message.
How long does it take for my Wake Up Call message to be sent?
Sending of your Wake Up Call message will occur automatically, within minutes, after you have click on the confirmation link we send you and give final authority to send your message.
Can I edit my message after it has been submitted for sending?
Unfortunately not. Once you submit your message, you cannot access it for editing purposes. However, you may decide not to send the message simply by not replying to the confirmation link we send you (see response to previous question).
Can I delete a Wake Up Call message after it has been written?
No. Once you submit a message, you cannot delete or recall it. However, if you decide not to send the message, you only need to ignore the confirmation link we send to you. These links automatically expire in seven days.
What happens if I do not confirm a Wake Up Call message that I have written?
The confirmation link to your message is valid for only seven days. After that, the link and the message attached to that link are automatically deleted from our servers.
How long are Wake Up Call messages stored?
Messages are kept for only 60 days, and then automatically deleted from our servers. After that, there is no record or history of the Wake Up Call message.
How will my order show up on my credit card statement?
It will show as a PayPal charge from “TBD”.
Do I get a refund if my message is not delivered?
We do not provide refunds for messages that are not delivered, simply because there are so many reasons why a Wake Up Call message is not received at the designated email address, including:
What if I have second thoughts about sending the Wake up Call message I have submitted?
This is one of the reasons why we send you a confirmation link after you have submitted your Wake Up Call message. If you no longer want to send the message, simply ignore the confirmation link and both it and your submitted Wake Up Call message will expire and be deleted in seven days.
If I do not confirm my Wake Up Call message, do I get a refund?
We are not able to provide a refund for messages that do not get sent because the writer has decided not to confirm them. Since the price for a Wake Up Call message is only fifty cents, it is not worth your time, or ours, to process a refund claim in such situations.
How do I report an abusive or threatening message?
All Wake Up Call messages are sent with an automatic link for reporting abusive or threatening messages. All you need to do is to click on this link.
If, for whatever reason, the link does not work in your email client software, simply forward the message, with a brief description of why you feel it is abusive or threatening, to: report_abuse@sendawakeupcall.com.
How do I block someone from sending me any further Wake Up Call messages?
All Wake Up Call messages contain a link enabling you to block all further messages from this sender (even though you will not know who the sender is). This process will usually take 3-4 working days.
If, for whatever reason, the link does not work in your email client software, simply forward the Wake up Call message you have received with a request that the sender be blocked from sending you any further Wake Up Call messages to: block_sender@sendawakeupcall.com.
What if I do not want to receive a Wake Up Call message from anybody, can I block everyone?
Yes. Simply send a message to block_all_senders@sendawakeupcall.com and we will add you to our Do Not Send list. This will usually take 3-4 working days.
